Introducing a New and Improved ClassHook

Since the early days of ClassHook, we’ve been attentive to the educator experience. Our goal was to create a product that was intuitive, easy-to-use, fast, and most importantly, solved the problem of finding highly relevant educational content that engages students.

Over the past few months, we’ve reassessed our product and noted that our fundamental design hasn’t changed significantly since our initial prototype about four years ago. In addition, conversations with educators revealed that they were not aware of some of our amazing features, such as Pause Prompts. We saw this as an opportunity to better support them.

We identified several ways that we can help teachers get more value out of ClassHook: personalization, easier clip discovery, and easier content management. We then worked diligently to redesign our website with these three primary goals in mind.

Today, we’re excited to release a newly designed ClassHook! In the rest of this post, I’ll walk through some of the design changes we made and how they contribute towards those goals.

The ClassHook Homepage

When you log into your ClassHook account, you’ll be brought to your dashboard, where you’ll receive personalized clip recommendations and can manage your content on ClassHook, all in one place. Actions that used to be behind several menus are now only 1-2 clicks away, which is a huge time saver.

We’ve also changed the clip viewing experience quite significantly to make it easier to assess clips. Discussion questions, standards, pause prompts, profanity, and comments are now prominently displayed and easily accessible. We feel these changes will help you more quickly determine if a particular clip is suitable for your lesson and better support you in using the clip.

The new clip viewing experience

What if you’re looking for inspiration and don’t have a specific clip or topic in mind? Our updated browsing experience is more conducive to finding that perfect clip than ever before. What was previously a large wall of text is now a simple list of clips organized by topic, helping you identify potentially interesting videos for your class.

These are just a few of the many changes we’ve made to ClassHook. The redesigned ClassHook experience is available now, and you can access it by clicking here. We’re beaming with excitement at what you’ll accomplish and would love to hear from you, so please send us your thoughts and feedback.
